What you are looking for is a pattern, not a single day. Generation will vary day to day depending on cloud cover, so one quiet Tuesday doesn't tell you much. What matters is whether your figures are tracking reasonably across a week or two. In winter, expect lower numbers than summer, but there should still be meaningful generation on clear and partly cloudy days.

If your figures look unusually flat across multiple days, if your app is showing fault codes or warnings you haven't seen before, or if your system just seems to have gone quiet without any obvious explanation, those are signals worth following up. A fault code on an inverter is the system's way of telling you something is wrong. Don't ignore it.

Dirty Panels Are More Common Than People Realise

If a neighbour's tree has also grown taller since your system was installed, or if you've added a shade sail or pergola, the winter sun angle may now mean panels are shaded at times they never were before.

Shading has a disproportionate effect on system output depending on how your panels are wired. In some configurations, shading a small portion of one panel can reduce the output of several others. If you've noticed your monitoring figures dropping off at particular times of day, especially in the morning or afternoon, shading is worth considering as a cause.

An experienced installer can look at your setup and identify whether shading is contributing to the issue, and whether there are practical options to address it.

When to Call Your Installer

You don't need to have everything figured out before you pick up the phone. If something looks wrong on your monitoring, if your bill has gone up in a way that doesn't quite add up, or if you just have a feeling the system isn't performing the way it used to, that is reason enough to reach out.
